shadowboxer collective

my friends nic and heather of the band casados, along with some of their other friends, have started a group called the shadowboxer collective.  every month or so, the collective will organize a concert at a local joint that is focused on mellow, low-fi music.  it should be really great... i'm looking forward to them!  in the meantime, nic has asked me to do some of the artwork.... here is my first-ever concert poster!:

from the archives 04.06.06 i recently found this in an old sketchbook... when we lived in iowa i worked at the library in our little town of 1400. i started out as the children's librarian and was later promoted to assistant director. (which sounds a lot more fancy than it actually was.) it was the best job, i got to hang out with the jr. high kids that would come in after school, put on events for the little kids, gossip with the old ladies, AND purchase all of the books for the entire library. i loved it.

06.15.09 wow, i really haven't posted here in a long time. with my drawing class this spring and other things going on, i lost focus, but i'm going to try harder... i was just messing around last night, copying some drawings of the avett brothers (well, bob and seth...) i have still been posting every week at smilepolitely.com though. my new entries go up on wednesdays now. (it used to be fridays) i have been working on some really exciting stuff for nic and heather of the band you & yourn... hope to be able to share it soon!
